Winter Branches
One of the few winter pictures I took this year. It's new snow, taken on a sunny day following the storm. The tangled mess of branches with the larger tree leaning in presented me with just the shot I was looking for. I liked that the branches seem to extend out over the entire little clearing reaching out of the frozen earth.

Wispy Sunset
It's a cold evening. The breeze picks up and the clatter of the bare, leafless tree branches sends a chill through crisp air. The sun is still burning hot and although it must be far far away, it still sends red rays through those cold trees. What a beautiful site!
An extended exposure and a slight movement of the camera gives the wispy effect in this photo.

Amber Meadow
It's getting ready to snow in Northeastern Kansas. Time to take some late fall shots while there is still bare ground to work with.
Nice warm colors are found in this shot with the backdrop of bare trees and a cold sky. Amber Meadow

Great Sand Dunes
Many of the pictures in the desert gallery at joshuadunnprints.com were taken at Great Sand Dunes National Park, home of the tallest sand dunes in North America (750 feet!).
The story of the dunes rising mysteriously with no large desert area around is fascinating. Another interesting fact is that these dunes are constantly being weathered down, however because of the unique location, they are continually being rebuilt. To learn more about this amazing place visit: http://www.nps.gov/grsa/naturescience/sanddunes.htm
Then go to the Desert Gallery on joshuadunnprints.com to see some great photographs of the dunes:

Autumn Fire
This photograph was taken on October 20th only a couple miles from our house while taking the dogs out for some exercise. I had been waiting to get a good photo of autumn leaves. This picture turned out very crisp and yet has a softness that I find reminiscent of the season. This print will be available only until December 21st. http://joshuadunnprints.com/page77.html

First Post
I am getting into blogging about seven years behind schedule. At least that is what I hear. Regardless, another way to look at it is that maybe they have worked out some of the kinks? Wow, blogging has really gone places since oh.. 2004? I think that is when I last looked at starting a blog. Now blogs have apps. Everything has apps now doesn't it? If it doesn't have an app, it's not up to date.
I have been involved with nature photography for a couple years now. I am focused on capturing nuances that make what could have been a cool picture, a great photograph. My website is joshuadunnprints.com.
